your signature look
· Keep things simple but memorable for all the right reasons
You don’t need to have lots of clothes, and you don’t need to wear a different style everyday. When you find your signature look, you can either repeat this on a daily basis, or you know you have a failsafe style to fall back on if experimentation isn’t high on your agenda when you get dressed.
If you find a recipe that makes you feel and look good, and is simple for you to repeat, whatever the season, this can be your signature.
· Is shape and design your thing?
So, what immediately comes to mind when you consider your signature look? Are you a jeans and jumper person, or do you choose to wear dresses? Perhaps you prioritise comfort over style? Do you like to wear short jackets or longer coats? Is your preference for shapely and fitted clothes, or would you rather wear voluminous styles and layers?
When you think about your answers these and any other questions that might come to mind, do you tend to wear similar shapes, and create the same silhouette? Or maybe you are more design led? Do you choose pattern, colour blocking, or texture as your go-to preference?
You will be able to think about your friends and family, and think about their signature style. Now consider how they might describe your style?
· Is colour your main driver?
We probably all know people who only ever seem to wear black, or someone who wears a multitude of colours. If you were going sweater shopping, do you immediately head for the navy section, or are you adventurous and just wait to see what takes your attention?
· Build from solid foundations
Knowing what your motivating style impulse is can be really useful when you are thinking about creating a signature look. You will have the basis for your chosen image in your wardrobe, but you might find that you stick to the same thing over and over again. If you decide that your signature style choice is slim fit jeans plus a shirt and jumper, then what else completes the similar silhouette?
