accessories are your friend
Finding a special piece of jewellery that transforms your everyday look in an instant is a game changer. Jeans and a shirt are a great comfortable pairing: jeans, shirt, with a statement necklace and earrings gives a whole new twist to the classic look. All accessories have the ability to transform the otherwise ordinary. Think about wearing a classic suit, and adding a vibrant wrap and colourful shoes to give you a different feel and very different image.
When you have a few minutes, experiment with your own favourite clothes, and see what you can easily do to change both the look, and importantly the feel, of your outfit with jewellery. Building a collection of pieces that work with your wardrobe can absolutely extend the range and wearability of your clothes. You probably already have some things you can try, or you can pick up very convincing ‘costume’ jewellery on the high street.
The great thing about accessories is that they are mostly timeless. Trends can change, but they always come around again. Accessories can be old, new, cheap, expensive, subtle, flamboyant and any mix of the above! If you can get the colours right so that everything blends with your existing wardrobe, and you get the scale right for your frame, you can easily wear pieces that are 20 years old to compliment something that you bought yesterday.
Many people get stuck in a rut, and perhaps wear the same couple of pieces of jewellery most of the time. Perhaps you pull on the shoes that are easiest to reach? If this sounds familiar, why not have a quick sort out and bring some of your forgotten things to the fore. That way when you next reach for your shoes, you will be picking up a different pair, and giving the others a chance to breathe, and your feet the opportunity to get used to a different shape.
